Internal challenges: cultivating confidence and calm in the midst of stress

External challenges: line of dance, starting options, partnership, musical

  • 12:30-2:00pm CLASS #3: The Dialogue of Taking Turns
This class is all about the foundational interpersonal skills of expressing and listening so that each turn is a co-creation between 2 dancers amidst a collective experience of the same song on a social dancefloor.

Who will benefit: dancers who want to gain sensitivity to the nuances of sharing what the music holds for us, in partnership and in community (the line of dance/ronda).

  • 2:30-4:00pm CLASS #4:  Esponjoso-Elastic Elements for Fun Turns.
Homage to Juan Lencina & his bien milonguero molinete - esponjoso y dinámico.  Juan Lencina was a gem of a human I (Graham) was lucky enough to learn from and socialize at milongas in Buenos Aires 2016. He passed the feeling of this gem to me on November 11, 2017.

Who will benefit: Any dancer who has taken previous classes this weekend and wants to dive deeper in their own molinete.

  • 4:00-5:30pm Sunday Practica

The slipperiest stage ever! We had to dance on a tiny carpet and even that was precarious. Unscripted and improvisational expo in Allentown, PA 2019.

Workshops with Puerta al Tango

Are immersion & all-level, although we do recommend at least a few foundational classes before partaking in one of these offerings. We hone musicality, sound awareness for how to move, and the social dancing skills that will give us confidence and good community-building skills. Exploration through subtle movements. Honing small space skills and unbridling ourselves for more fluid and dynamic connections.

  • How to age safely in tango with natural technique.

  • How to engage dynamically without sweating (too much).

  • How to have fun with less and provide more good experiences for others when dancing milonga, tango and vals

  • Floorcraft skills to make friends and build good community.

  • All-level inclusive ~ I learn more when working with someone new than with someone with experience. I get to hone the nucleotides that are the DNA of natural tango movements, so to speak. This weekend is crafted to enhance everyone’s ability and understanding… with the tide will rise all boats.
